Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a lightweight, soft, and highly flexible thermoplastic commonly used to make orthotic braces and support devices. Its low density gives it a gentle feel, while its flexibility allows it to move comfortably with the body instead of holding a rigid shape. LDPE also offers good impact and chemical resistance and can be easily heated, shaped, and fabricated.

Processing Information:
Recommended heating temperature is 325°F-375°F for 4-8 minutes, with the exact time depending on the material’s thickness and individual oven conditions. Some shrinkage during heating is normal. The material stays flexible even well below 0°F and can tolerate brief contact with boiling water. If it begins to flow, melt, pool, or form bubbles, it has been overheated or left in the oven too long.
